Man fatally shot inside car in Mattapan; Boston's 54th homicide

BOSTON — Boston Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Mattapan.

Police said they found a man inside a car on Savannah Avenue around 10 p.m. Monday who was shot several times in the chest.

Boston Police Commissioner William Gross, who arrived at the scene after the shooting, said this is the city's 54th homicide of the year.

Police have not released the victim's name.

Police said they are searching for a maroon van that was seen driving away from the scene.
