Mass. man arrested after hit-and-run streak in New Hampshire

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — A Massachusetts man was taken into custody after striking multiple cars on a New Hampshire interstate and then rolling his own vehicle over on Saturday evening, according to a release from State Police in Bedford, N.H.

Raymond Faucher III, 32, of Plainville, Mass. was arrested after police responded to multiple calls of hit-and-runs and a rolled over vehicle on I-93 North near Exit 5. The reports came in at 4:18 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival, law enforcement confronted Faucher, who was allegedly walking in the middle of the highway. The suspect then became combative, according to police, and refused to obey the instructions of officials.

Police arrested Faucher, who was subsequently transported to Parkland Medical Center in nearby Derry, N.H. for further evaluation.

Prior to police arrival, law enforcement alleges that Faucher struck four vehicles while driving northbound on I-93 in New Hampshire. According to police, Faucher sideswiped a vehicle driven by Tannie Grogan, 48, of Bedford, N.H. before fleeing the scene.

Later, as Faucher was weaving through traffic on the interstate, he struck the vehicle of a 71-year-old New Hampshire woman before losing control of his own vehicle and sideswiping a third car operated by a 48-year-old man from Epping, N.H.

Faucher's vehicle began to rotate, according to police accounts, and eventually stuck a fourth car, driven by a 48-year-old Goffstown, N.H. man. Faucher's automobile then rolled and came to a stop on its roof in the right lane.

All of the victims of Faucher's crash spree were evaluated by Londonderry Fire and EMS, with the driver of the last vehicle struck, Norman McEllrath, being transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for a possible head injury.

The incident is currently under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police.
