Arizona man stuck in mud to his waist pulled to safety by firefighters

An Arizona man who sank up to his waist in mud in a marsh Friday was rescued by members of the Flagstaff Fire Department, KNXV reported.

In a Facebook post, officials from the Fire Deparment said rescuers were called around 1:30 p.m. to the western shore of Lake Elaine.

The lake had recently been drained, and the man sank more than 3 feet into the mud, according to the Facebook post. Firefighters used a 20-foot rope to pull the man to safety.

"The FFD would like to remind citizens and visitors to Flagstaff alike that as drier conditions set in this summer and local lakes and other bodies of water begin to recede, areas surrounding the water can still be dangerous to humans and animals," officials wrote on Facebook. "Please be safe around water at all times!"
