Boston police identified a man fatally shot while sitting inside a car in Mattapan on Monday as 25-year-old Gregory Phillips of Dorchester.
Phillips was found shortly before 10 p.m. inside a car near 155 Savannah Ave. with several gunshot wounds to his chest. He was later pronounced dead, Boston police said in a statement.
Police are searching for a maroon van that was seen driving away from the scene, officials said.
The shooting remains under investigation. Police have urged anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 617-343-4470.
