Mansfield man indicted by Nebraska grand jury for interfering with airline crew

A Mansfield man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Nebraska for allegedly interfering with the flight crew of a Southwest Airlines flight last month, prompting an emergency landing in Omaha.

Timothy Columbare, 37, is charged with interferring “ . . . with flight crew members and attendants on or about March 19,” the US Attorney’s office for Nebraska said in a press release Thursday.

Columbare could not be reached for comment Friday night. Southwest Airlines also could not be reached.

He was on a Southwest Airlines flight from St. Louis to Seattle. But the pilot was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Omaha, according to court records.

Prosecutors did not provide details of the alleged interference. A spokesman for the US Attorney’s office declined Friday to comment.

A hearing is scheduled for May 16 in Omaha.
