Boston saw record-setting rainfall on Monday.
The National Weather Service tweeted that Boston received 2.3 inches of rain on Monday, which broke the old single-day record of 1.89 inches for April 22 that was set in 1937.
Even higher amounts were recorded in several other communities in Massachusetts, including Natick (2.83 inches), Randolph (2.73), East Milton (2.72), and Wayland (2.72).

So far, we’ve received 4.72 inches of rain this April, and that’s 1.88 inches above normal, according to Lenore Correia, a meteorologist with the weather service.
Showers were expected to continue Tuesday morning. Forecasters said to expect clouds and patchy fog in the morning, with highs reaching the mid 50s by the afternoon.

A flood warning has been extended for the Sudbury River in the Saxonville neighborhood in Framingham and for the Connecticut River in Northampton.
“Heavy rainfall Monday has pushed these rivers into minor flood,” the weather service said in a statement. “However rain will end this morning followed by rivers slowly receding thereafter.”

Forecasters said Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and lows in the mid 40s. Wednesday should be partly sunny with scattered showers in the morning and highs reaching the lower 60s.
Then, we’ll finally get a break from the rain.
“A weak front will bring a round of showers tonight into Wednesday morning, followed by mainly dry weather,” forecasters wrote. “Thursday could be the pick of the week with sunshine, light winds and mild temperatures.”
Thursday will be sunny and bright (remember what that feels like?), with highs in the lower 60s.
But the dry spell won’t last long.
Forecasters said there’s a chance of showers on Thursday night, and we should expect another rainy day on Friday.
