Steven Fregeolle, 32, of Johnston, R.I.Bristol District Attorney’s Office

A man suspected of killing a 37-year-old woman in North Attleborough on Saturday was found dead on Sunday night in Rhode Island, according to the Bristol County district attorney’s office.

Police were searching for Steven Fregeolle, 32, of Johnston, R.I., on Sunday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, officials said. He was later found dead in the Francis C. Carter Memorial Preserve in Charlestown, R.I. around 6:30 p.m., several hours after police found his car abandoned outside the nature sanctuary.

Officials believe Fregeolle’s death was a suicide.

Fregeolle was suspected of killing Brandi Berg, of Riverside, R.I., who was found unresponsive at Fashion Crossing Plaza on Route 1 about 6 p.m. on Saturday. Berg was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with apparent gunshot wounds and was declared dead, said Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office.
