Police nabbed a suspected bank robber in Haverhill Wednesday — in part thanks to the work of the same Rhode Island police department that helped track down a different suspected bank robber caught gambling at Plainridge Park Casino late last month.

Detectives from the East Providence Police Department worked in conjunction with Pawtucket, R.I., and Haverhill police to arrest Kevin Donovan, 41, of Weymouth. Donovan was held Wednesday on a fugitive from justice charge on robbery warrants from the two Rhode Island communities, police said.

Donovan was sought in connection with a May 23 robbery at a Citizens Bank branch on Taunton Avenue in East Providence, and a June 4 robbery of a Citizens Bank branch on Smithfield Avenue in Pawtucket, police said.

East Providence and Pawtucket police identified Donovan as the suspect in both robberies and tracked him to a shopping plaza in Haverhill Wednesday. He was later arrested by Haverhill police, according to a press release.

In May, East Providence police worked with a number of departments to arrest Joseph Hickson, 35, of Walpole, who was wanted for bank robberies in East Providence; Franklin, Mass; and Cranston, R.I. Cops closed in on Hickson while he was on the gaming floor at the Plainridge Park slots parlor.
