Funnel clouds were spotted in the Haverhill area during a tornado warning Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The severe storm at 3 p.m. flooded streets and knocked out power for more than 10,000 customers.

Meteorologists have not confirmed if a tornado actually touched down, but the National Weather Service received several reports of funnel clouds in the Haverhill region.

More than 9,000 customers were without power in Haverhill at 3:45 p.m., along with more than 1,000 customers in Methuen, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.

“Previous tornado warning expired. Strong/severe storms remain,” MEMA tweeted. “Damaging wind, hail, heavy rain, lightning still possible in this warning area and with other storms through this evening.”
