A New Hampshire truck driver was killed when the truck she was driving with a load of pressurized methane gas crashed through a guardrail in Orange and rolled over Friday afternoon, State Police said.

Lois Ann Johnson, 62, of Woodstock, N.H., was pronounced dead at the scene of the Friday crash.

The 53-foot trailer carrying multiple cylinders of pressurized methane crashed after driving off of the side of a curbed exit ramp off Route 2, according to State Police spokesman David Procopio.

The crash resulted in the closure of Route 2 overnight Friday through Saturday afternoon during the cleanup and investigation. Parts of the area were evacuated briefly until it was determined to be safe.

The exit ramp remained closed Sunday while the tractor and trailer were recovered and the guardrail repaired.

Hazardous materials experts monitored the cleanup.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but at this time there is no evidence of impairment, Procopio said.
