TYRONE Mings felt Cherries could have dealt better with Manchester City’s goals – after admitting they had known what to expect.

The 25-year-old defender made his first Premier League appearance in six and a half months at Etihad Stadium and was one of Cherries’ standout performers.

However, his efforts could not prevent Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan handing City a 3-1 victory.

Reflecting on the result, Mings told the Daily Echo: “I’m slightly disappointed. The way we conceded the goals was things we had worked on and things we had seen on tape.

“We were prepared for it so it’s disappointing to concede in the way we did.

“But I guess we have to feel a bit of pride after coming to a place like this and going toe-to-toe with them. It shows how far the club and the players have come.”

Former non-league ace Mings has been plagued by injury since his £8million arrival from Ipswich Town three and a half years ago.

His outing in Manchester was only his 13th league appearance for Cherries – three of which have been against City’s star-studded line-up.

Mings added: “When one gets tired, another one comes on. It’s a never-ending conveyor belt of talent but what better way to test yourself?

“These are the sort of opportunities you dream of when you are in the lower leagues.”
