A CHARITY celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special lunch designed to thank those who have donated in the past years.

Parkinsons UK Bracknell branch launched its event at The Three Frogs pub in Wokingham on February 27.

The charity thanked local companies and members of the community for helping them raise much needed money for its carers.

Will Hague, branch secretary, said: "The event was a great success enjoyed by nearly 40 members and carers and thanks must go to The Three Frogs for all their assistance on the day and for providing the delicious anniversary cake."

The event gave members of the Bracknell branch an opportunity to thank FDD international who recently donated £15,000 to support its services for its members.

"We were also pleased that Dan Clark from FDD International was able to attend. We would particularly like to thank him and his colleagues for making such a generous donation to the Branch.

"We are totally self financing organisation and so this donation will help secure our services and activities for members for the foreseeable future, while also giving us the opportunity to explore any other services which may be of benefit to our members and carers."

Parkinsons UK in Bracknell help people who are affected by the neurological disease by providing a friendly atmosphere through its social events.

Once a month, members come together at The Three Frogs to share their experiences and make friends.

The Bracknell branch also provides access to Parkinson's nurse specialists who provide advice on medication and support.
