CONSTRUCTION of the Great Hollands Pavilion is nearing its final stages of building work.

Bracknell Town Council (BTC) contractors are undertaking work to make room for a new pavilion as part of an update of the facilities at the ground.

The main purpose of the new pavilion will be to provide updated facilities for the users, as well as refreshed outdoor space. The children’s play area will also be improved along with an accessible water feature.

Interior works are still underway before the new building is open to the public.

Councillor Chris Turrell, leader of BTC, said: "It's great news that Bracknell Town Council has now officially taken over this fantastic new building, which has some great facilities for residents.

"We are presently finishing off some internal work, then we look forward to showing the building to local residents and potential hirers.”

Chairman of the Great Hollands Pavilion working group, Cllr Ian McCracken was handed the keys to the new building by the construction group.

Cllr McCracken added: "“It’s been my privilege to chair the Town Council’s working group which has overseen the rebuild of our Great Hollands Pavilion to its successful conclusion, culminating in being handed the keys to our fantastic new building.

"I’d like to thank my colleagues on the working party, our architects and of course our building contractors.

"This is a building to be proud of and I hope our residents and users will have many happy years enjoyment of the facilities it brings to the community”
