THERE have been several reports of hanging baskets being stolen in the Bridgwater area recently.

After one resident who lives in a village near Bridgwater posted about her hanging baskets being stolen on social media, several other people reported similar incidents in Durleigh, Over Stowey, Nether Stowey, Stockland Bristol, and Kilve and Holford village halls.

One victim told the Bridgwater Mercury: "There has been a series of incidents reported in the local area of people having hanging baskets stolen from their gardens and village halls.

"Mine were stolen earlier this week.

"I live in a quiet area quite of the beaten track and am devastated by my loss.

"I planted them myself and they were just beginning to look lovely.

"Times are difficult enough at the moment without people stealing what may seem to them insignificant property.

"I hope by sharing my story others may be able to help identify and the culprits."

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that they were investigating an incident of hanging baskets from outside a property in Stockland Bristol.

A police spokesman said: "It is believed the theft occurred between 7.30pm on Monday, May 25 and 11.30am the following day.

“Anyone who witnessed what happened can report it online, or call 101, giving reference number 5220/113857.”
