An 101-year-old Bristol City 'superfan' is the subject of an award-nominated documentary.

Margaret Dodds has followed the Robins since she was a child and the centenarian remains a huge supporter today.

It was at Ashton Gate that Margaret met budding filmmaker Tom Bridge, who was so inspired by Mrs Dodds extraordinary life and passion for football that he decided to make a documentary about her.

Tom, 18, is a member of the British Film Institute (BFI) Academy at the Watershed in Bristol.

Alongside colleagues Issy Moxham-Mead, Owen Frears, Ethan Church, Chloe Collins Cole and Molly Denton, all 18, Tom made the film Margaret Dodds: 100-year-old Bristol City Super Fan.

During the five-minute documentary, Margaret recounts her earliest experiences of watching Bristol City at Ashton Gate with her father, her time in the navy, and her recovery in time to see her beloved Robins face Manchester City at Ashton Gate in the League Cup last year.

It also shows Mrs Dodds 100th birthday celebrations with the players and staff at the club's training ground.

"As long as I can manage to go, football is what I'm interested in," she tells the filmmaker.

"It's the only real interest now I've got. I like to know they've done well. I can stand a loss but I like to see them going at it."

When Tom asks what advice Margaret has for him so he can get the most out of life, she says: "Do everything before you're married."

The short film has been nominated in the Best Documentary category at the 2019 Into Film Awards.
