A car and trailer has overturned and in a separate incident a car has set alight on the M5.
The crash in Gloucestershire has resulted in the closure of the carriageway southbound towards Bristol
Stationary traffic has been reported at the accident site near J13 to Stroud.
Emergency services are at the scene including the fire service.
Congestion is reported to be tailing back for over a mile.
There are also delays northbound after a two-car collision in Worcestershire between junction 7 for Evesham and junction six for Worcester.
There are also delays on the M4 due to an accident Eastbound from J20 ( Almondsbury Interchange) to J19 M32 (Bristol).
Near Bridgwater traffic is being held northbound after a car caught fire on the outside lane of the route.

Delays of 15 minutes
Jams on the M5 have almost cleared now.

Very slow traffic due to earlier vehicle fire and earlier accident on M5 Northbound from J24 A38 (Bridgwater South) to J23 A39 (Bridgwater North). Congestion to traffic through Burrow Bridge, Thornfalcon and North Petherton . Travel time is 15 minutes. All lanes have been re-opened.

All lanes have reopened
Queues are finally clearing on the M5 after all lanes have been reopened.

30 minutes delays
Traffic England is reporting delays of 30 minutes.
Two lanes have now been reopened but it’s likely the third will remained closed throughout rush hour.
Falcon Coach Company apologises following delays
The coach company says services are running 45 minutes late.

Sadly, queues are only likely to increase as rush hour traffic hits the roads.

One lane remains closed
A spokesperson for Highways England says a safety check needs to be conducted before the third lane can be reopened.
There are still long delays in this area.
No one was injured in crash
South Western Ambulance Service has confirmed no one was injured in today’s two-car smash.
A spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.01pm about a road traffic incident, reportedly involving two vehicles, on the M5 northbound in the area of junction 24.
“There were no reports of any injuries.”
Delays of 40 minutes
It looks like jams are finally start to clear on the M5 following two vehicle fires.
Traffic England is now reporting delays of 40 minutes.
Smash on M32
Motorists on the M32 face long delays now as well.

Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on M32 Northbound from J2 B4469 Muller Road (Eastville) to J1 A4174 (Hambrook). All lanes have been re-opened. Lane two (of two) was closed.
Motorists still face delays of 90 minutes

The M5 northbound between junctions J25 and J24. Normal traffic conditions are expected between 17:00 and 17:15 on 22 There are currently delays of 1 and a half hours against expected traffic

All lanes have reopened following an earlier collision on M5 northbound from J20 ( Clevedon ) to J19 (Portishead).

There's been another crash on the M5
The latest collision happened on the northbound carriageway between J20 ( Clevedon ) to J19 (Portishead).
The crash is blocking one lane.
Fire service statement
The fire service has confirmed both vehicles were ‘severely damaged’.
A spokesperson said: “Two fire engines from Bridgwater were sent to multiple reports of a vehicle on fire on the M5. Crews arrived on scene and confirmed there were two vehicles well alight.
“Crews got to work extinguishing the blaze using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets. Police also attended the scene. The incident happened in the third lane of the M5 and is likely to cause congestion in the area.
“Crews put the fire out and duty of care was left with the Police. Both vehicle were severely damaged, and the cause was deemed as accidental ignition.”
Delays of one and a half hours
It’s definitely not a good afternoon to be travelling on the M5.
Traffic England is reporting delays of one and half hours against normal travel times.

'Fire completely smothered both cars'
A witness has told Bristol Live the blaze has completely destroyed two vehicles.
She said: “We’re travelling the opposite direction. The fire brigade had just got there as we drove past. The fire completely smothered both cars, loads of traffic was backing up fast.”
50 minute delays expected
There are currently delays of 50 minutes along the M5 after the crash.
Highways England estimates traffic will return to normal soon.
