Protesters have been blocking traffic as they make their way through bristol city centre.

The group of up to 200 people including children have been petitioning the vegan cause as they parade through the streets of the city.

It comes on a day where 18,000 students are expected to be in Bristol enjoying the University of Bristol open day.

Eye-witnesses have reported seeing around 150 or more people on the roads highlighting the cause.

Hundreds of environmental activists are set to block the roads around the Bearpit in a protest.

The blockade is set to form across Rupert Street, Marlborough Street, Stokes Croft and Bond Street at 4pm on Saturday (April 27).

Samba music will be played during the roadblock, which is expected to last half an hour.

The event has been organised by Earth Strike, which describes itself as “a grassroots movement demanding immediate climate action from governments and corporations worldwide”.
