Firefighters have shared pictures of damage caused to a Bishopsworth house by a "severe fire".

UPDATE:

Two crews from Bedminster and one from Temple attended the blaze in Sandburrows Road at 3.24pm yesterday (November 20).

All residents had evacuated the property by the time the emergency services arrived but firefighters said the images showed "how important it is to try and keep doors closed".

The images show extensive damage to the kitchen of the house, with blackened peeling walls.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Two crews from Bedminster and one from Temple fire station were called to a fire in a residential property on Sandburrows Road a 3:24pm.

"Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used one high-pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire. They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the building and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

"All residents had left the property prior to our arrival. The cause is thought to be accidental and firefighters remained on scene to provide safety advice."
