A bus has crashed into a building in Bristol city centre this evening (June 11).

The double-decker First Bus has hit the brick wall of the Quorum offices on Old Market.

It is thought the bus mounted the pavement and went over a bollard and tree before hitting the building.

It is not yet clear if any passengers were on board the service at the time of the crash, or if there are any injuries.

There is police tape around the pavement outside the Quorum, but roads around the incident remain open.

Firefighters, ambulance crews and police are at the scene. We have approached emergency services and First for comment.

Witness describes moment First bus 'demolished' traffic light and hit Quorum offices

A witness has spoken about the moment a bus crashed into a Bristol city centre office block.

Train manager David Shelley had left Temple Meads station to get dinner on his break when he witnessed the crash.

The 36-year-old said:

“I was walking along eating my kebab. While walking back to the station, I became aware of a loud banging and crunching noise.

“I looked up to see, 100ft in front of me, a purple First double-decker go straight on from the edge of the roundabout and demolishing a traffic light.

“It crossed the cycle lane, mounted the wide pavement and hit the front of the building.”
