Hello and welcome to today's live blog!

We're still waiting on that first major arrival into Ashton Gate this summer but fear not Lee Johnson and Mark Ashton are back at the club and looking to get some business done .

Our Robins reporter Gregor MacGregor guided us through the situation at BS3 this week with meeting taking place at the stadium with various players' representatives and talks are ongoing with a host of targets.

In other news, City defender Taylor Moore has denied he is swapping Bristol for Luton Town on loan while, further afield in the Championship, newly promoted Aston Villa completed a huge £22m purchase of Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes - that's what Premier League football gets you - and Barnsley signed Luke Thomas from Derby for the more modest £1.2m.

The latest new name to be linked with City is Sydney FC goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne with the club actively pursuing a third goalkeeper to compete with Niki Maenpaa and Max O'Leary for the starting spot.

Keep an eye on below for updates across the day both at home and beyond BS3

That's all from us today

Thanks for reading and be sure to check back over the weekend for more City-related news.

Have a pleasant evening.

Goalkeeper chase update

We understand that goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin is a transfer target for the Robins and he could arrive in BS3 soon.

The Colchester United player-coach would offer experienced back-up to Max O’Leary and Niki Maenpaa.

Gilmartin has played for Walsall, Watford and Hednesford Town and is no stranger to the West Country having also spent time at Yeovil Town and Plymouth Argyle.

The 6ft 5ins keeper had three years with the Hornets in the Premier League without making an appearance from 2014-17, before he went on to join Colchester United in a player-coach capacity - something that will appeal to Johnson and his coaching staff.

More Morrison chase details

Few more details here on that reported James Morrison chase here.

Blackburn Rovers may fancy their chances of recruiting the ex-England U21 player, too, however, with boss Tony Mowbray reportedly a big fan and having initially signed Morrison 12 years ago for the Baggies.

In fact, Mowbray is also reported to have attended Morrison’s testimonial dinner at the Hawthorns, indicating the strength of relationship between the pair.

Where Bristol City stand on key targets and what's likely to happen

Bristol City are working hard to get transfers done and still hope to add to Robbie Cundy as the sole arrival at Ashton Gate so far this summer.

The Robins are aiming to bring in at least five players before the end of the window but, as Lee Johnson explained this time last year, the club must wait their turn at the table.

City writer Gregor MacGregor takes a look at how things stand with the Robins’ pursuit of their transfer targets.

Allegri to take sabbatical, which means ...

Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri last night confirmed he’ll be taking a year out from the game after guiding the Bianconeri to five straight Serie A titles.

This is important because it’s believed he was one of two candidates being lined up by Chelsea to replace Maurizio Sarri who’s reportedly off to Turin to replace Allegri.

The other, of course, being Frank Lampard with the Derby County manager now the overwhelming favourite for the job after just one season in the dugout for the Rams.

If Lampard leaves, with Derby having to cut their cloth this summer, it could be a very different side City line up against next season, after they pipped the Robins to the final play-off spot last season.

Allegri said:

I will stay for a year because I have to get back my private life, to find my family, children and friends after so many years. These last 16 years have been in a centrifuge. I will give my family, children and friends some affection. This year, I will need this in order to recharge my batteries for the next season.

Luke Thomas signs for Barnsley

It may not be the standout move of the summer but the Tykes could have landed themselves a real bargain with the 20-year-old winger who impressed on loan at Coventry last season.

Bristol City had made enquiries to Derby over his availability but he’s a Tyke now after signing a four-year contract for a fee of around £1.2m.
