Bristol City's Adam Webster is being lined up for a move to the Premier League this summer.

That's according to the Mirror who reported late on Saturday that four English top tier sides are eying up the centre-back: Watford, Newcastle United, Southampton and Burnley.

While it would undoubtedly take a huge fee for City to countenance the loss of their star defender and player of the year for 2018/19 the Robins will sell if enough money is put on the table.

Possibly the ray of light is that the Mirror's report explains that the four Premier League sides will only target Webster if they first sell a central defender themselves. The former Ipswich Town man would be their replacement signing in that eventuality.

Burnley are reported as considering Webster should James Tarkowski be sold this summer - with Wolves named as one side interested in the former Brentford man -  while Newcastle United might do likewise should they lose Jamaal Lascelles or Fabian Schar.

Watford might have to replace Christian Kabasele yet, while the Saints may have to find another Jannik Vestergaard - and Webster is on the recruitment lists for all four sides, reportedly.

While Bristol City currently have no senior left-backs following the sale of Lloyd Kelly and are down to just two recognised central defenders it would take a massive bid to prise Webster away.

The Robins are always likely to sell if their price tag can be met but it would take something astronomical for the 24-year-old to leave in this window given that he only joined last summer and has been so successful.

City have been linked with Coventry City defender Jordan Willis.
