With this terrible weather it feels like we're in the middle of winter, not leading up to the peak of summer.

But fear not as the city centre is going to feel a little more like Hawaii very soon thanks to a brand new beach bar, which opens in Broadmead today (June 13)..

Plans were submitted for the temporary bar back in April and the council has approved them - meaning we will have a brand new attraction to enjoy for the next 14 weeks.

Visitors to the bar, named Mojito Beach Bar, will be able to sip on a range of delicious cocktails while dipping their toes into golden sand, with palm trees all around.

There will also be a number of food stalls surrounding the beach bar selling everything you would expect to find on a trip to the seaside including ice cream, fish and chips and more.

The temporary bar will serve alcohol between 10am and 10pm every day and will host also host live music performances, with live bands and DJs lined up to fill Broadmead with summer sounds.

In addition to that, films will be shown on a big screen from 3pm until 10pm Tuesday to Sunday.

There is plenty of seating at the bar with the swinging benches in particular likely to prove popular.

The new city centre attraction is headed up by Freeman & Schmidt Limited, a private company headed up by Elliot Freeman and Sven Schmidt, who have also opened similar bars in Birmingham and Reading.

To guarantee yourself the best seats in the house you can reserve a private beach booth on Mojito Beach Bar's website.
