An Asda shopper has expressed her shock at finding part of a rubber glove inside a £1 pack of stir-fry.

The customer bought the packet of vegetables which includes beans, cabbage, peppers and grated carrots but when she got home discovered an unexpected ingredient.

Stapled to the plastic film covering the product was the thumb of a blue latex glove, Hull Live reports.

"I find this disgusting. I was so shocked when I saw, I got home and saw it inside the packaging," the woman said.

"There is a level of expectancy that you would have thought these products were quality checked - even before stocking them on their shelves."

The regular customer of the Asda store in East Riding of Yorkshire had bought the mixed pepper stir fry to go with her tea on Tuesday, said she wants to take it up with the food giant after the grim discovery earlier this week.

She added: "I bought this product on Tuesday. I have not opened it as I feel for health and safety reasons it's not acceptable. I have put a complaint in with ASDA head office."

An Asda spokesman said: "We take great pride in the quality of our products and we are working with our supplier to understand how this could have happened.

"We are trying to contact Ms Johnson to apologise for this incident and would like to reassure our customers that we take the utmost care when packaging all of our products.’"
