It would be fair to say the new flagship British Heart Foundation store in Bristol city centre hasn't had the best luck.

After opening on The Horsefair in June, becoming one of the biggest shops in the area, it closed just one month later after a huge fire ravaged the first floor.

The July blaze started accidentally but forced the 7000sq ft shop to close “until further notice”.

Speaking at the time, CEO at the British Heart Foundation Simon Gillespie said: "The fire at our Bristol Home and Fashion store is devastating news, especially for the volunteers and staff who worked tirelessly to open it just two weeks ago.

“Although we are relieved there were no injuries, the damage to the shop has been significant.”

But thankfully, four months after the devastating fire it has been announced when the store will reopen.

Shoppers will be able to peruse the vast range of second-hand furniture, clothing, homewares, accessories and books again on December 11, which is when the relaunch is scheduled to take place.

British Heart Foundation stores across the UK raise around £30 million a year for life-saving research by turning donated items into high-quality products which are great value for money.

Bristol Live has contacted British Heart Foundation to find out if there will be an event to mark the relaunch and is awaiting a response.
