UK bed retailer Silentnight is opening a new store in Broadmead and it will be selling some unusual mattresses.

The new showroom, which will be next to Co-op Bank, will sell mattresses made out of recycled plastic bottles.

The new eco range is made by crushing plastic and spinning it into a soft fibre which is then turned into a mattress, with each one containing up to 850 bottles.

The showroom, which will open tomorrow (August 22), will also sell 12 different types of bed as well as sleep accessories.

The ranges available in the Bristol store include the Geltex collection, and Healthy Growth and Safe Nights which are designed for children and babies.

Orla Jackson, showroom manager at the Bristol store, said: “The new showroom in Bristol is a fantastic retail addition to the area, and we’re looking forward to opening our doors to the public.

“We understand that choosing a bed and mattress can often be confusing, which is why we have experts in-store to help customers find what’s right for them.”

Silentnight’s Hippo mascot will be at the new showroom on Friday and Saturday (August 23 and 24), and children and families will have the chance to have their picture taken.

Ian Lambert, Marketing Director at Silentnight added: “The Bristol showroom will be the fourth to open in two years, and we’re really pleased to see Silentnight arriving on Bristol’s bustling high street.

"Our Silentnight showrooms are proving exceptionally popular in their local areas and feedback has been positive. We’re looking forward to launching in Bristol and continuing our promise to bring everyone a great night’s sleep.”

The Bristol store is Silentnight's fourth standalone showroom and follows on from openings at the Intu Trafford Centre in Manchester, Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex and the Bentall Centre in Kingston.
