With stunning Christmas lights now switched on in many parts of Bristol, the city is suddenly looking even more magical.

But the most festive area of the city is arguably Millennium Square, which is home to a pop-up ice rink, German market and of course the ever-popular Après Bar.

Nothing beats being wrapped up in a blanket drinking mulled wine in front of a roaring fire and we can now do that thanks to the return of the bar, which wouldn’t look out of place at the foot of a mountain in a popular ski resort.

Taking over the area outside We The Curious, it’s the perfect place to enjoy drinks and a bite to eat with friends - and this year there’s more focus on food than before.

On top of the usual range of drinks including beers, ciders and mulled wine, award-winning in-house chef Toby Bradley Watson will be in the kitchen rustling up an array of culinary delights.

People can book out private dining rooms for groups of 12 or 16 people, or enjoy bar snacks for a more casual experience.

With the We The Curious pop-up ice rink next to the bar, it really is a stunning attraction in the city centre which is already proving popular four days after opening, said manager Leigh Iles.

He said: “The bar has grown in popularity each year and we’re already busy this year since opening on Thursday which is good. The weekend was very busy.

“This year there’s some really exciting food options on offer so we want to make sure people are aware of that.

“We’re looking forward to seeing more people come down and try our selection of food and drinks.”

Bar snacks this year include baked Camembert with garlic and honey for £8, smoked sausage with sauerkraut and mustard for £7 and beer braised beef short ribs with apple slaw for £12.

Also new this year is the Christmas walkway, which will take people to the bar via a stunning festive path which starts at the edge of Millennium Square, near to Slug & Lettuce, complete with trees and fake snow.

The bar will also play host to live music every Friday and Saturday up until January and open-mic nights every Wednesday until Christmas.

It will be open until January 15. More information can be found on its website.
