It's the ultimate camping trip.
But pack too much and you're bound to lose stuff and become exhausted from lugging it around. Pack too little and you'll leave essentials behind.
And then of course you really want to make sure you're looking your best at one of the biggest festivals in the world.
So to save you a job, we've compiled the ultimate guide of what to take (and not to take) with you to Worthy Farm when Glastonbury 2019 is on.
Our key advice? Only pack what you need - taking too much will make the very long walk from the car park/coach entrance to your campsite feel like a marathon, and no-one wants an aching back on day one of the festival.
As part of Glastonbury's 'Love Worthy Farm, Leave No Trace' campaign, organisers encourage people only to take things they can carry home.
For security reasons, all ticket-holders will be subject to extra searches of their vehicles, their bags and their person at this year’s festival. This will make entrance slower than in previous years. Please be patient if there are queues, and please cooperate with any security requests and all searches.
As a general rule, people are asked to take only as much as they can carry to make the security process quicker.
General items
Your ID - you'll need it to be served at the bars.
Your ticket
Money/cards (there are cash machines on site, but they do get busy)
Bags - for dirty clothes and rubbish
Camping equipment
There will be fewer camping stalls at the festival than there have been in previous years, so organisers are warning people to bring a sturdy, fit-for-purpose tent which will last a lifetime of festival camping.
A tent
Spare tent pegs (because they always get lost)
A sleeping bag
A pillow (believe us, it's worth it)
An airbed (and pump) or roll matt
A chair - this isn't essential, but it is nice
A torch
Food and drink
Whether you want a dirty burger, Asian cuisine, crumpets, a bacon buttie or Japanese food - you can buy pretty much anything on site. Many of the stalls do 'Food For A Fiver' deals.
We'd recommend taking some snacks to carry round, but you might want to avoid carrying a camping stove.
DO take a reusable bottle, as there are free taps across the site.
Toiletries
Soap
Toilet roll
Hand sanitiser
Dry shampoo
Sun tan lotion (there isn't much shade at Glastonbury)
Any medication you may need
Contraception
A miniature first aid kit (particular for any welly-induced blisters)
Clothing
Wellies or sturdy boots
A warm jumper (it can get cold at night)
A GOOD waterproof
Enough clothes to have a change if you get wet (including plenty of clean socks)
A hat to protect you from the sun
What NOT to bring
- Too much stuff that you won't take home
- Glass (even perfume or mirrors)
- Non-biodegradable glitter
- Disposable wipes - even biodegradable wipes break down into microplastic and plant-based ripes rot and release methane into the atmosphere.
- Animals - no, your dog doesn't get a free ticket
- Sound systems
- Professional film or video equipment
- Sound systems
- Drums
- Drones
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
Can I take plastic in?
Yes, you can. The site has banned all sales of plastic bottles, but you can take them in. In fact, you'll need to take your alcohol in cans, cardboard carries or plastic bottles - as glass is BANNED from the site.
