Leicestershire will play host to round 3 of the women’s HSBC UK | National Road Series this weekend: the CiCLE Classic.

Riders from Brother UK – Tifosi p/b OnForm have won each of the first two rounds of the series, and they will be well represented on the start line at Melton Mowbray, with current series leader Rebecca Durrell – who won the CiCLE Classic in 2016 - and round 1 winner Anna Henderson among their ranks.

Elsewhere, Storey Racing’s Elynor Backstedt is set to race after recording a hugely impressive set of results on the continent in recent months, and former track world champion Emily Nelson will line up in the colours of RST/Cycle Division Racing Team.

Strong contingents will also be present from Bianchi Dama, Brother UK Fusion RT and Cycle Team OnForm, as the rest of the peloton looks to prevent Brother UK – Tifosi p/b OnForm extending their 100% series record.

Women's CiCLE Classic 2018 - Lizzie Holden.

They currently occupy three of the top five positions in the overall rider standings: Durrell sits top with 54 points, Henderson in third and team-mate Leah Dixon in fifth.

Alicia Speake (Team LDN – currently seventh) and Lauren Dolan (Team Rytger – currently tenth) will both be looking to climb up the individual standings on Sunday.

The race will get underway at 2pm, with riders facing 105km of racing before a predicted finish time of 5.15pm.

Round 4 of the women’s HSBC UK | National Road Series will be the Alexandra Tour of the Reservoir over the weekend of June 22 and 23, while next weekend will see the opening round of the inaugural standalone women’s HSBC UK | National Circuit Series take place in Bristol.
