Richard “Dick” Waldo Edie, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls. 

A memorial service will be held at Dow Rummel Village,  Halladay-Peterson Chapel on Friday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. and all are invited to attend.

Dick was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Philadelphia to Raymond and Amy (Armstrong) Edie. 

After serving in the Army in the 13th Armored Infantry Division until 1946 he earned his Bachelor and Master’s of Fine Arts in Kansas. He met and married Esther Rude while on staff at Sterling College in Kansas in 1954. They moved to Brookings in 1956, where he was a professor of visual arts at SDSU until his retirement in 1986. He and Esther where members of First Presbyterian Church of Brookings. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, brother Ralph Edie of Sioux Falls, sisters Eleanor Work of Englewood Ohio and Evelyn Peterson of Ft. Collins ,Colorado.
