Recapping Wisconsin spring visitors in the past week

Quite a few since last Saturday.

With spring football wrapping up in just about a week, the Wisconsin Badgers still see high school prospects coming to Madison to watch practice and take in the sights and sounds of Camp Randall Stadium.

On Saturday, many braved the chilly and windy day inside Camp Randall Stadium to take in Wisconsin’s open practice. As seen above in the main article picture, many 2019 signees came to Madison. They included:

  • Running back Julius Davis
  • Offensive linemen Joe Tippmann and Logan O’Brien (walk-on)
  • Specialist Blake Wilcox (walk-on)
  • Tight ends Hayden Rucci and Clay Cundiff
  • Linebacker Maema Njongmeta
  • Safety Dante Caputo (walk-on)

Also visiting last weekend included the following:

  • 2021 offensive lineman Nolan Rucci, whose recruiting process has skyrocketed in the past few months. B5Q spoke with him earlier this week on his time at UW.
  • 2020 defensive lineman Rylie Mills, who officially visited Wisconsin. Read more about the four-star recruit’s time in Madison from BadgerBlitz.com ($) and 247Sports ($).
  • 2020 in-state recruit Lukas Spencer from Kettle Moraine. That school should sound familiar, as Wilcox and 2020 four-star offensive lineman Trey Wedig both come from that program as well. Spencer spoke with Jon McNamara for this BadgerBlitz.com piece.

Let’s see who else stopped by this week:

Thursday

It appears several in-state recruits found their way to Madison, including a couple from the high school program quarterback Danny Vanden Boom hails from.

  • According to Rivals, Kimberly product Conner Wnek holds an offer from North Dakota and is designated as a wide receiver.
  • Another 2020 product from Kimberly, Mitchell Bartol, also was in attendance. Both 247Sports and Rivals rates him currently as a two-star product—but plenty of MAC schools and Syracuse have offered the projected tight end.
  • Three prospects from nearby Verona High School, just southwest of Madison, took in practice. According to both 247Sports and Rivals, 2020 offensive lineman Gunnar Kilen holds 15 offers from a variety of MAC, FCS and Ivy League programs. 247Sports rates him as a two-star prospect currently.
  • A three-star recruit by ESPN, two-star by 247Sports, offensive lineman Adam Vandervest holds five offers from Central Michigan, Columbia, Eastern Kentucky, Illinois State, and Toledo (according to both 247Sports and Rivals). McNamara spoke with Vandervest on Thursday.
  • 2020 wide receiver/running back Haakon Anderson from Verona also watched practice on Thursday.
