Everyone knows Jonathan Taylor is a fast running back. Now he will use that speed for the Wisconsin Badgers track and field team this spring.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Jeff Potrykus first reported of Taylor, who claimed the 2018 Doak Walker Award winner after leading the nation in rushing last season, running track. WOZN’s Zach Heilprin also tweeted the news minutes later.

It appears Taylor’s track career will start right away, as Potrykus and the Wisconsin State Journal’s Jason Galloway noted that the talented back joined the track team this week while missing Wisconsin’s spring practice on Tuesday.

Potrykus and Heilprin also reported what events he will participate in and when, as seen below:

As noted in his UWBadgers.com profile, Taylor claimed consecutive New Jersey Meet of Champions titles in the 100 meters in his final two years in high school. In 2016 and 2017 during his junior and senior prep years, he also earned four Group 1 state championships in the 100 meters and 4 x 100 relay.

More from spring practice on Tuesday

Unfortunately B5Q (errr, me) could not make it to practice on Tuesday morning (sick kid, stomach bug, not fun!).

Here are a few quick practice highlights from others on the Wisconsin beat:
