Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti's appearances in Vermont this weekend have been canceled following reports of his Wednesday arrest in Los Angeles on suspicion of domestic violence.

Vermont Democrats, who planned to host two events with the lawyer Friday and Saturday, will refund ticketholders, said R. Christopher Di Mezzo, the party's communications director, on Wednesday evening. Avenatti has said he would pursue the Democratic Party nomination for president in 2020.

“We have not heard from his people, but while there is some kind of arrest and investigation to ensue, we’re not going to step into that arena with him." Di Mezzo said.

Michael Avenatti represents porn star in lawsuit against President Trump

Avenatti has become nationally prominent for representing adult film star Daniels in her lawsuit against President Donald Trump regarding payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence her about an alleged affair a decade earlier.

Avenatti was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to ABC News and other news outlets.

The Vermont Democratic Party planned to host Avenatti Friday at ArtsRiot in Burlington, and at the Hotel Coolidge in White River Junction on Saturday.

The party pulled the event descriptions from its website shortly after learning of the arrest. Social media posts on the Vermont Democrats Facebook and Twitter accounts advertising Avenatti's visit were also deleted.

Tickets for the event cost $50 for general admission. Vermonters could also pay $100 for a VIP reception with Avenatti in Burlington.

The Burlington appearance was billed as a town hall-style talk by the Vermont Democratic Party. The party described the White River Junction event as "cocktails and conversation."

The lawyer has been exploring a 2020 run for president.
