Want a single metal barrel but can't come up with the cash? What about a vintage dental set? Vermonters know the best things in life are free, and that's why they're offering up these no and low-cost items on Craigslist — and some of them might surprise you.

Free RVs

Want a free RV? One Vermonter is giving away a 1989 Amera Coach in Hartland. The lights, heat, AC and appliances are all in working order. One catch — the 29-foot van doesn’t start, but the seller says it’s a “great opportunity” for anyone willing to “get her going” again. And if you think, though free, the RV isn’t worth the trouble, consider this free RV in Ferrisburgh: “Inside is ruined and has debris due to leak in roof and moldy wood,” the seller writes but, reassuringly, the “tires look OK.”

A baby grand piano is delivered to a loading dock in Louisville, Kentucky, on Jan. 17, 2018.

Free baby grand piano

Mike and Elaine in Colchester are offering up their Challen Baby Grand piano. If you’re motivated enough to find a way to move it, you can finally fulfill your childhood dream of learning a musical instrument, realizing it requires time and effort, and abandoning your new hobby ("This piano is an attractive piece of furniture in any living room," the seller promotes).

Free piece of wood

If you’re in the market for a single piece of wood, head to Colchester for this once-in-a-lifetime steal. This former “step into a deck” could have any number of uses — for example, the seller suggests it could be used as the front of a shed. Never mind that someone in New Hampshire is giving an actual barn away for free. Maybe you can use the wood to fix up the barn?

Low-cost vintage dental kit

Everyone knows vintage is in style, and if you’re looking to start a dental practice with a unique spin, consider investing in this set of vintage dental tools. $175 will buy you a set of terrifyingly-retro clamps, scalpels, a sliding hammer and a drill head with diamond bits. The seller will throw in a dental light for another $100, but we’re sort of hoping you use the kit for a Halloween costume.

Next-to-free letter 'B'

And if none of the free options seem worth the hassle, think of what you’d have to pay for this “Decorative Letter B” in South Burlington that will run you $15. The main selling point? “Hangs on the wall.”
