Harwood boys basketball pulls off big comeback to best Montpelier in OT

MONTPELIER - Max Hill scored all 15 of his points after the intermission break and Harwood roared to a big second-half comeback to edge Montpelier in overtime, 56-49, in a high school boys basketball matchup on Monday night.

Charlie Zschau notched 14 points for Harwood, which overcame a 15-point halftime deficit and outscored Montpelier 7-0 in the extra period.

Leo Riby-Williams led Montpelier with 16 points.

BFA-St. Albans 51, Colchester 36: Nick Voyer scored 13 of his game-high 16 points in the second half as visiting BFA-St. Albans used a 13-4 third-quarter advantage to pull away from Colchester.

Voyer also hauled down 16 points and Taylor Yates scored 11 of his 14 points in the opening 16 minutes for the Bobwhites (1-1).

Carson Corrigan and Tyler Desjardin each had 12 points for the Lakers (1-0).

Mount Abraham 76, Winooski 30: Liam Kelliher poured in 24 points and Mount Abraham left Winooski with the comfortable win.

Parker Hines (12 points) and Logan Rodriguez (10) also reached double figures for the Eagles, who led 29-14 at the break.

Mowtes Ibrahim paced Winooski with nine points. Austin Benoit and Mayange Mayange tossed in eight points each.

Williamstown 61, Danville 45: Jacob Tassie's 24-point night and Ryan O'Neil's double-double of 16-points and 10 rebounds powered Williamstown past Danville.

Tyler Orton hit double figures for the fourth straight game for the Blue Devils (4-0), who used a 20-5 second quarter to flip a small deficit.

Ian Steele struck for 29 points and Tim White added 13 for Danville.

Hazen 50, Enosburg 21: Isaiah Baker scored 15 first-half points and host Hazen jumped out to a 31-2 lead to put away Enosburg.

Freddy Larson added nine points for Hazen (2-0).

Ethan Williams scored eight points.

Girls basketball

Enosburg 50, Winooski 31: Sophie Burns tallied 16 points and host Enosburg jumped out to a 28-13 halftime lead en route to beating Winooski.

Freshman Emily Adams tossed in 10 points for balanced Enosburg.

Amna Cicak paced the Spartans with a dozen points.

Thetford 61, White River Valley 27: Namya Benjamin scored 12 points and Kiana Johnson tallied 10 to lead Thetford past White River Valley.

Thetford put the game away with a 19-6 third quarter.

Women's basketball

South Florida 102, Vermont 55: Host South Florida racked up 28 first-quarter points and got 20-point games from three of its players to rout Vermont in nonconference action.

Laura Ferreira (22), Sydni Harvey (20) and Alyssa Radar (21) led the Bulls, who shot 56.7 from the floor, made 12 3-pointers and out-rebounded Vermont 47-20.

For UVM, Hanna Crymble tallied 17 points and Josie Larkins tossed in 13.
