Monday's H.S. highlights: Borrazzo's perfect game keys South Burlington win

SOUTH BURLINGTON - Anna Borrazzo struck out 14 batters and gave up no hits en route to tossing a perfect game in South Burlington's 18-0 win over Spaulding in five innings of high school softball on Monday.

Borrazzo also was 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs for the Wolves .Brianna Belisle (triple, double) and Rachel Hebert (double) each had three hits.

U-32 29, Peoples 22: Host U-32 scored in every inning, pushing across 24 runs in the first four frames as it hung on to best Peoples.

Sage Winner and Brianna Rich each had three hits for the Raiders (1-0). Maia Castonguay, Alex Smith, Elizabeth Guthrie (home run) and Allie Guthrie (double) added two hits apiece and Grace Johnson earned the win in the circle in 5 2/3 innings.

Athena Myers had three hits for the Wolves (0-1), while Kaitlyn McAllister and Tiffany Parker added two apiece.

Lyndon 22, Milton 1 (5): An 11-run first propelled visiting Lyndon to a rout of Milton.

Colby Zaun was 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs for the vikings. Lindsay Joyal (double) and Jenna Malone (two doubles) each had three hits. Kelleigh Simpson earned the win.

Emma Eaton finished 2-for-4 and scored the lone run for the Yellowjackets. 

Boys lacrosse

BFA-St. Albans 17, Milton 3: A 10-2 halftime lead allowed visiting BFA-St. Albans to rumble to a convincing win over Milton.

Noah Vincelette pumped in four goals for the Bobwhites, while Kalob Norris, Seamus Pickener and Cooper Cioffi each had a hat trick. Foster Horton made five saves.

Jackson Ehler, Colby Bergeron and Ethan Swan had the goals for Milton.

Essex 11, Mount Mansfield 3: Host Essex cruised to a 10-1 lead after three quarters in its win over Mount Mansfield.

Luke Meunier (two assists) put up four goals and Chris Labonte (two assists) had three for the Hornets. Chris Davis struck twice while Aidan Haggerty and Devin Norton combined to make eight saves.

Teddy Waitz, Will Hauf and Dylan Davis each had a goal for the Cougars. Josh Westover and Ian Gay combined for six stops.

Champlain Valley 13, Woodstock 5: Jake Schaefer and Nate Cuttitta each netted a hat trick and two assists as host Champlain Valley rolled past Woodstock.

Max Gorman and Charlie Averill (assist) added two goals apiece for the Redhawks. Bobby Spencer made seven saves and Jake Hanson one.

Caden White and Micah Schlabach led the Wasps with two goals and an assist.

Baseball

Burlington 9, Mount Abraham 2: Alden Wheeler held Mount Abraham to no earned runs and struck out seven as he earned the complete-game victory for host Burlington.

The Seahorses' Donovan Montgomery reached base four times on a 2-for-2 day that included a double, triple, three runs and an RBI. Parker Ballard went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Parker Hines was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple for the Eagles and Wyatt Thompson went 2-for-3. Nolan Whitocmb took the loss.

South Burlington 16, Spaulding 6 (6): Sullivan Beers earned the win with three innings of two-hit ball and helped the cause with two RBIs at the plate as South Burlington toppled Spaulding.

Nolan Antonicci was 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Wolves (4-1) and Brendan Precourt doubled as they opened a 10-3 lead after three frames.

Losing pitcher Jalen Lewis finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Crimson Tide.

Lyndon 10, Milton 0 (5): Pushing across four runs in the first and fifth innings, visiting Lyndon sailed past Milton.

Dave Buckingham and Conner McClure combined in a no-hitter for the Vikings.Drew Dudas had two hits and an RBI, while David Stevens finished 2-for-4 with a double. Shea McCaffrey was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBi.

Spencer Bidwell was tagged with the loss in three innings.

Williamstown 14, Hazen 10: Darkness halted visiting Hazen's seventh-inning comeback bid as Williamstown hung on.

Nolan Bean (three RBIs), Jacob Tassie (two RBIs) and Lucas Vasseur (two RBIs) all doubled in their two-hit outings. Gabe Dexter earned the win in four innings of work.
