Vermont Varsity Insider Athletes of the Week: Winners for June 3-9
The votes have been tallied and the winners of the Vermont Varsity Insider Athletes of the Week honors are ... May Gratton of BFA-St. Albans softball and Aubrey Ramey of Fair Haven baseball.
Gratton garnered 35.94% of the votes to top the girls field while Ramey prevailed on the boys side with 31.54% of the vote.
The online voting at BurlingtonFreePress.com began June 10 and closed at midnight on June 13.

May Gratton, BFA-St. Albans softball: The junior keyed BFA-St. Albans' first Division I title since 2006, tossing a complete game without allowing an earned run and with a dozen strikeouts in the dramatic, 3-2 victory over rival Missisquoi. Gratton also scored two runs, the latter in the seventh inning to break the 2-all deadlock.
Aubrey Ramey, Fair Haven baseball: The Slaters' ace tossed a complete-game four-hitter with 10 strikeouts, guiding Fair Haven past No. 1 Otter Valley 3-1 in the D-II state final for the program's first crown in 28 years. Ramey also threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in the 1-0 semifinal win at Enosburg.
