Mumbai Police files FIR against PMC Bank, HDIL officials

The Mumbai Police has filed a case against the former bank management and promoters of HDIL and PMC Bank's director and chairman. A special investigation team is probing the case. The FIR was lodged in the case for forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy against the officials by the Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police. The bank's former Chairman Waryam Singh, Managing Director Joy Thomas and other senior officials, along with the directors of HDIL have been named in the FIR.

Anil Ambani threatened with class action suit by shareholder at AGM

At the AGM of Reliance Power on Monday, a shareholder threatened to file the country's first class action suit against the group companies, if the issues he raised are not addressed in the next two to three months. The shareholder, who claimed to be a corporate lawyer, also said he has lost over 90 percent of the value of over Rs 3 crore investment in three of the seven Reliance Group companies. He was particularly peeved at group chairman Anil Ambani pledging over 80 percent of his holdings in the company, blaming him for bad signalling.

IRCTC IPO subscribed 81% on Day 1

IRCTC, a subsidiary of the Indian Railways, received a strong response to its IPO on the first day. The IRCTC IPO through which the government aims to collect Rs 645 crore was subscribed 81.31 per cent at the end of opening day. Data from the NSE showed that the IRCTC IPO received bids for over 1.63 crore shares compared to 2.01 crore equity shares on offer by the firm.

SDMC declares Select City Mall, SDA Market, 45 other markets plastic-free

Stepping up its anti-plastic campaign, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has declared 47 markets as "plastic-free". Apart from the Select City Mall in Saket, SDA market, Gautam Nagar fruit and vegetable market, Tagore Garden vegetable and fruit market, Harinagar D Block market, Nangal Raya flyover market and Punjabi Bagh fruit market, have been declared plastic-free. Another 15 markets and institutions have been preparing themselves to be declared plastic-free.

BS-VI grade petrol and diesel supplies extended to Faridabad, Gurugram and 5 other districts

BS-VI grade petrol and diesel supplies will expand to seven more districts of Haryana from October 1 to cover the entire national capital region as oil companies extend the fuel coverage to all over the country in a phased manner. State-owned oil firms began supplying the ultra-clean fuel in the national capital in April last year. Supplies of BS-VI grade petrol and diesel was extended to neighbouring districts in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in April this year and now it has been extended to Haryana.

India's current account deficit narrows to 2% of GDP in June quarter

India's current account deficit narrowed to $14.3 billion, or 2 per cent of GDP, in the June quarter, from $15.8 billion, or 2.3 per cent a year ago. In the financial account, net foreign direct investment was $13.9 billion in the first quarter of FY20, as against $9.6 billion in the first quarter of FY19. Foreign portfolio investors remained net seller as they pulled out a net sum of $3.3 billion from the Indian capital markets in April-June period.
