Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has expanded its Staybridge Suites brand to Scotland with an opening in Dundee.

The 85-room property is in a former linen mill, with suites retaining original features such as exposed brick ceilings and iron beams.

IHG said its rooms and suites were “designed to meet the needs of extended stay guests, from business travellers to families,” with living areas, fully-equipped kitchens and work spaces.

The property is a 15-minute walk from Dundee train station and the new V&A Dundee.

The lobby has free wifi and working areas. There is 24-hour onsite shop called The Pantry selling food essentials, as well as free laundry facilities and a gym.

The hotel will host midweek evening socials three times a week with complimentary food and drink.

IHG first brought the Staybridge brand to the UK in 2008. It has 276 properties around the world, with a recent opening next to Heathrow.

Dianna Bruce, Hotel Manager at Staybridge Suites Dundee, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to be opening Scotland’s first Staybridge Suites in Dundee. Designed for the modern traveller, we have created a hotel where our guests can stay in the style of room that suits them best, perfect for business and family travellers alike.

“The hotel is a short drive from the city’s train station and airport, allowing guests a central base to enjoy the attractions of the city. Across the courtyard, guests can dine at the 2 AA Rosette Daisy Tasker restaurant, which has been named after a former mill worker.”

Rooms start at £75 per night including breakfast.
