It could be a long hot afternoon for police and firefighters after a fire broke out on the A14 today (July 5).

The eastbound A14 carriageway towards Brampton Hut has been closed as a result of the incident.

Cambridgeshire police said they were on their way to the fire at about 12.15pm.

Crews from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Services were already at the scene and the eastbound carriageway has been closed.

The police were heading towards Brampton Hut near Huntingdon to the fire.

Police tweeted: "Officers en route to a fire on the A14 @ Ellington cambsfrs at scene already and the east bound (towards Brampton Hut) has been closed as a result."

Camper van caught fire on A14

A camper van caught fire and forced police to close one lane of the A14 eastbound today.

Emergency services were called to near Ellington at noon after the fire broke out in the van. No injuries have been reported. The eastbound carriageway is still closed but recovery is due to take place shortly.
