Stagecoach has announced that four Cambridge Park and Ride services will be returning on Sunday (May 31).

Following the announcement by the UK Government of a new bus, tram and light rail restart programme, the company has confirmed plans for a phased step up in services as more people return to work and other parts of daily life re-open.

As well as the welcome return of these buses Stagecoach has also stated it will be introducing further service enhancements from June 14.

To help keep everyone safe they have reduced the number of seats available on each bus to promote social distancing, and created a 10-step guide to travelling safely at this time.

How to get the latest Cambridgeshire news direct to your inbox

The steps are as follows:

1. Plan ahead, allow extra time for your journey and try to travel at off-peak times, where possible.

2. Wear a face covering if you can.

3. Use contactless to pay or have the correct change.

4. Buses will have limited capacity. If your bus has a BUS FULL sign please be prepared to wait for the next bus.

5. Let people off the bus before you get on.

6. Keep a safe social distance from others, 2m apart where possible - at the bus stop and on board.

7. Sit in the window seat, leaving the seats in front and behind you empty and don't sit directly behind the driver.

8. Only one person can sit on a double seat, unless you're with a member of your household.

9. Don't stand on the bus.

10. Wash or sanitise your hands before and after your journey.

From Sunday, in an effort to assist with social distancing, there will also be some changes made to Park and Ride bus stop locations within the City Centre:

Madingley Road Park and Ride: Buses will operate on their normal route until Sunday June 14. From this date, buses will continue to serve St Andrews Street but will be moving a short distance along from the old stop (S3) to the service's new stop (S1).

Newmarket Road Park and Ride: Buses from Newmarket Road towards the City Centre will not be serving The Grafton bus station, they will instead serve the Napier Street stop.

Buses towards Newmarket Road Park and Ride will operate on their normal route and continue to serve Drummer Street but will be moving a short distance from the old stop (D2) to the next stop  (D1).

Babraham Road Park and Ride:  Buses will be re-routed to operate from the city centre stop in Downing Street which is used by our Trumpington Park and Ride service.

When stopping at the Railway Station towards the Park and Ride site, the service will also be moving two stops down to its new stop (Stop 3). When travelling into the City Centre, buses will now use stop 7 at the Railway Station.

Trumpington Park and Ride: There will be no changes made to bus stop locations and the service will operate on the normal route.

Further changes to bus stopping arrangements  in the City Centre and at the Railway Station  will apply to Stagecoach services  from June 14 and will be published in a few days.
