A new miniature door has sprung up in Cambridge as a mystery artist continues to create the tiny portals.

The latest creation from Dinky Doors is a miniature postbox in Cambridge's Riverside.

It comes after little doorways were placed in Cambridge's Downing Street, Reality Checkpoint on Parker's Piece, and in the Market Square.

Mum, Xenia Dixon and her twins Tam and Dylan, 4, and daughter Yasmin, who moved to the city a few months ago, spotted the new postbox today (February 13).

They made the discovery after receiving a letter through their door (the life-size one) to say that Dinky Doors would be near their home.

"We had something in our letterbox and it said that the Dinky Doors were coming," she said. "The kids were really excited.

"Inside there were little tables and chairs, and a laptop. They were really well made."

The artists previously told Cambridgeshire Live that they want passersby to use their imagination when they spot a Dinky door in the street - stating that the doors will be able to "teleport" you to other "happier" worlds.

The anonymous creator behind the artwork added: "We can’t reveal our names as we’re not sure that installing street art without permission is strictly legal.

"But we hoped in this time of miserable news that we could bring a smile to people’s faces.

"We know children, especially, like interacting with the doors.

"What we are doing is a little bit rebellious but we would never cause any damage by installing the portals - they are not permanent structures."

The doors take around two months to make.

The tiny post box is the latest dinky door to spring up in Cambridge.

It features alongside a little Number 10 on Downing Street, a titchy doorway on Reality checkpoint in Parker's Piece and a small but perfectly formed Teleport-O-Matic machine, in the Market Square.
