A police incident closed the Fletton Parkway, or A1139, in Peterborough earlier this evening (March 25).

Both carriageways were closed between junction 1 and junction 2, according to Cambridgeshire Police.

Police sent out a tweet at 5.42pm regarding the incident.

A spokeswoman told CambridgeshireLive that the A1139 was closed because there was concern for a woman's safety.

The woman was near a bridge over the busy stretch of parkway, but police have confirmed that she is safe now.

The area of the Fletton Parkway concerned runs behind the Serpentine Green shopping centre, between Orton Southgate and Orton Goldhay.
