1. Ferry Meadows

Whichever your favourite, everyone who grew up in Peterborough has fond memories of these soft play centres.

With both offering ball pits and various play equipment, whether you want to host a party or just take yours kids out for an hour or two, it's the place to go.

Whether it's to go for a lesson, use the diving boards or just have a paddle about, the Regional on Bishop's Road has you covered.

If you fancy a little more fun, the Jack Hunt swimming pool on Ledbury Road offers an inflatable course every school holiday.

The Lido in Peterborough city centre makes for a perfect afternoon in the sun and opens for the year on May 25.

4. Get to know the history of the city

Help your children learn something new about the past by taking them to the Peterborough Museum on Priestgate.

Appropriately located in one of the city's most historic buildings, the museum has something for the whole family.

5. Burghley House

Just outside of Peterborough, Burghley House is a short drive away.

The 16th century country house in Stamford is a great place for an afternoon stroll.

There's also a range of events and markets on throughout the year, and of course the famous Burghley Horse Trials.

7. Planet Ice

And if you want to make a day of it, the trampoline park is just round the corner from Peterborough ice rink.

8. Hills and Holes

A free day out to take the kids and the dog for a runaround, Hills and Holes is just outside of Peterborough.

The name really does say it all - with rolling hills and scenic views, the nature reserve in Barnack is a great place to spend a relaxing sunday.

9. New Ark Adventure playground

With a traditional adventure playground, an eco-garden and a city farm, the New Ark Adventure playground is a fantastic place to let your children play and explore.

An independent charity, it aims to get children in the great outdoors.

It's suitable for kids of all ages, from babies and toddlers (0-3), young children (4-8) and older children (9-12).

10. Nene Valley Railway

While the Flying Scotsman has recently steamed through Cambridgeshire, it's set to return to the Nene Valley Railway in September.

But that's not all it has to offer, as there are a range of events throughout the year.

It's also home to everybody's favourite train: Thomas the Tank Engine.

11. Sacrewell Farm

Sacrewell Farm is a great place to take your kids to see a range of farmyard animals.

It also focuses on teaching children about the countryside, with a range of workshops available.

The farm is open every day from 9.30am - 5pm and children under the age of two get in for free.
