Bedfordshire Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Luton last week.

A suspicious device was used in the robbery of the Co-Operative Bank in Alma Street, where an amount of cash was stolen.

Investigators are looking for 64-year-old Ion Craciunescu, who is Romanian, in connection with the crime.

On Friday (December 7) officers responded to the bank around 11.40am, evacuating the scene and putting up a cordon.

The explosive device was examined and found not to be viable, police said.

Craciunescu was thought to have been spotted on CCTV at Luton Railway Station a short time later, where he is thought to have boarded a train towards London.

A number of lines of enquiry are being followed, and anyone with information on Craciunescu’s whereabouts or who recognises the man pictured, is urged to contact police.
