With spring in the air and warmer temperatures in the forecast, it’s time to head to Annapolis for numerous events planned for this month. Let’s start with the work information first, then we will get to the “fun stuff.”

The City of Annapolis government offices will be closed on Good Friday. Refuse and recycling will not be affected. Annapolis Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule Friday. For more information of transit schedules, go to http://bit.ly/1fBqVJ9.

Meanwhile, a welcomed tradition in April is the Annapolis Cup, when St. John’s College takes on the United States Naval Academy for the annual Croquet match.

The 2017 match will start at 1 p.m. on April 22, rain or shine, on the front lawn of St. John’s College. For the record, the Mids most recent win was in 2014 and have only taken the title seven times out of the 34 matches, something the Johnnies should be very proud of.

The match opens with music and much “hobnobbing” between the hundreds of guests that show up, but the anticipation of what the Johnnies will sport as their official uniform is the highlight of the match, prior to 1 p.m. when the first ball is struck. Gates open at 11 a.m. and for more information, go to https://www.mt.cm/annapolis-cup-2017-croquet-match

Then the following week, the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show comes to town. The annual in-water sailboat show will feature new and brokerage boats, including catamarans, monohulls, racing boats, family cruisers, day sailors, and inflatables. The show runs from April 28 through April 30. For more information, go to annapolisboatshows.com for more information.

Also, make it a point to go see the Annapolis Colonial Players musical production of “Nine,” with performances each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with matinees on Sundays, through April 30. The theatre is located at 108 East St. in Annapolis. Go to thecolonialplayers.org for more information on tickets and show times.

Other events this month that are permitted by the city include the 16th Annual Boatyard Bar & Grill Opening Day Rockfish Tournament & Captains Reception on Saturday from 4- 9 p.m. at 400 Fourth St.

The Maryland Avenue Spring Festival is an event you should not miss. It is held on April 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Four Rivers Garden Club Annual Flower Mart is on April 30 at Hopkins Plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

So many activities are scheduled for this time of year, so please go to www.annapolis.gov to make sure you don’t miss any of them.
