Shoppers checking out fall clothing options from Lands’ End will notice that locations around Annapolis, and the Bowie Baysox stadium, were featured in the brand’s most recent catalogs.

Erin McNaboe, Chief Operating Officer of Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, said they learned that Lands’ End was scouting in the area. The company, formerly owned by Sears Holdings, is publicly traded and made $616 million in profit last year, according to Nasdaq. Their clothes are shipped to more than 180 countries around the world.

“We immediately reached out and connected Lands’ End with photo locations to highlight Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. Lands’ End had a vision for their fall catalog and as destination experts, we bridged the gap from vision to reality,” she said in an email.

On the starting lineup is Prince George’s Stadium, home of the Bowie Baysox. The cover of the early fall catalog features the stadium, the outfield stripped of advertisements. Models smile with Baysox players in uniform, it seems — those are also models though, according to the team’s assistant general manager Phil Wrye.

The models donning the uniform are actually players from the Severn River Rugby Football Club who are also featured in the men’s catalog, said one of the players, Annapolis resident Phil Denton.

Denton said the company reached out to the team to get models for its rugby-style polo shirts in the men’s catalog. He said he happened to be there the day they showed up and they chose him and others to be models — shown playing rugby on the cover in a field owned by American Legion Post 175 in Severna Park.

Then they chose five of the players to wear Baysox uniforms for the early fall catalog, as well, he said.

Wrye said Lands’ End came to the stadium in May to shoot the pictures while the team was out of town, spending the better part of a day there. They’ve kept quiet about the photo shoot since then, waiting for the catalog’s release.

“It’s been a nice plus for us,” he said.

Ego Alley and the streets of downtown Annapolis are featured in the catalog as well, and the men’s catalog also includes a Maryland Avenue storefront.
