Annapolis police responded to a shooting Friday evening on Madison Street and found a man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were called at 5:15 for a reported shooting in the 1100 block of Madison Street. There officers discovered a 30-year-old Annapolis man who had apparently been shot in the mouth, police said Saturday. He was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

“We are investigating the circumstances of the incident. There were a lot of people out in the neighborhood and we are reaching out to the community,” city police spokeswoman Sgt. Amy Miguez said. “A lot of people in the community know officers. But they can provide information anonymously.”

On Wednesday night in the same area a man was stabbed in the back as he tried to break up a fight, police said.

In May, Annapolis police responded to calls for gunshots fired in the same block on Madison Street — not far from the Eastport Community Center. Police said at the time that they could not find victims or suspects.

In mid-February, several vehicles and buildings were hit by bullets in the same block on Madison Street. At the time, police said no victims were found, but two unoccupied parked vehicles, the door to an apartment building and the window of another apartment were struck by bullets.

Police are asking anyone with information about Friday’s shooting to call 410-260-3439. You can also call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587 and submit an anonymous tip. If your tip leads to an arrest or indictment you could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
