A West Alabama man is in the hospital tonight after his car was hit by a train in Moundville.

An unidentified male driver’s vehicle was hit by a Norfolk Southern train while crossing at Griffin Street around 4:30 p.m. Moundville Police Chief Toby Banks told CBS 42 News how it happened at the scene.

“The car eased up on the track, the guy looked over, saw the train and I guess didn’t react quick enough,” Banks said. “They was on the horn, on the brakes, and couldn’t stop.”

The victim was taken to DCH hospital with unknown injuries. Banks tells CBS 42 News that another man was killed at this spot 4 years ago.
