BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (BIRMINGHAM SOUTHERN ATHLETICS) – Seniors  A.J. Hunt (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis Univ. School) and Tyler Wise (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS) were named 2019 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners as selected by the American Baseball Coaches Association.  Birmingham-Southern baseball is the only program to have two players represented on the nine-man team.  The Panthers have had three honorees during their time in NCAA Division III.

This is the first honor of the season from the ABCA for Hunt.  Wise was named second-team all-region by the ABCA earlier this year.  It has been four years since BSC had a student-athlete recognized on the Gold Glove team when Sam Roberts earned a spot as an outfielder.

According to Rawlings, the Gold Glove “represents overall fielding excellence, and is not an award based solely on field metrics and statistics, nor does it factor offensive production.
