MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A National Guard helicopter is flying over protests again Friday night.

The Guard has been taking a Milwaukee police officer into the air on all but one night so far.

The helicopters aren't using any military or surveillance technology.

Instead, the National Guard spokesperson says they're providing police the ability to have an eye in the sky.

"There's a Milwaukee officer on board the aircraft helping relay public safety information from the air to law enforcement on the ground," said Captain Joe Trovato of the Wisconsin National Guard.

The Guard insists they will keep flying as long as the Milwaukee Police Department requests their help.
